The Brick Township community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a 15-year-old Brick Memorial High School freshman who was killed Tuesday morning in a tragic traffic accident while riding an electric bike to school.
The fatal crash occurred along Lanes Mills Road during the early morning commute, sending shockwaves through students, parents, teachers, and residents across the township. Authorities confirmed the teenager was struck while traveling to school shortly before classes began.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene after the incident was reported, but despite lifesaving efforts, the student later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Crash Happened During Morning Commute
According to officials, the accident took place around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday on Lanes Mills Road between Michigan Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. By approximately 7:35 a.m., the Brick Township Police Department issued a Nixle alert warning residents of active police activity in the area as investigators and emergency crews responded.
Authorities confirmed the teenager had been riding an electric bicycle at the time of the crash. Portions of the roadway were temporarily shut down while officers gathered evidence and examined the scene.
Officials have not yet publicly released full details surrounding the collision, including information regarding the driver involved or what factors may have contributed to the crash.
The victim was later identified by members of the community as Jackson, a 15-year-old freshman described by loved ones as outgoing, intelligent, and full of life.
